Welcome

I’m Joshua Cova, full-time DFG-funded PhD Researcher at the DYNAMICS graduate program, a joint PhD program between the Hertie School and Humboldt University in Berlin. I research European comparative political economy and EU politics.

In my PhD dissertation, which is supervised by Anke Hassel and Hanna Schwander, I examine recent changes in the political economy of wage-setting in Europe. I study these topics by using econometric tools (time series analysis, multilevel models) and by using computational text analysis (I am particularly interested in multilingual quantitative text analysis).

Prior to my PhD, I studied history and politics at King’s College London and the University of Oxford. After my university studies, I worked as a Robert Schuman trainee in the Cabinet of the former President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz. I also worked in banking, at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), the EU’s investment bank and the world’s largest multilateral development bank. I also spent two years working for the strategy management consulting firm, the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Zurich and Frankfurt.

On this website, you can read about my published and my work in progress, my data collection, my CV and my teaching experience.
